Goal, Philosophy & Licensing
Our Goal
Our goal is to help children become independent, confident, and well-rounded individuals.
Our Philosophy
Children learn through play. Our enriched environment promotes and provides multiple opportunities for learning at various levels of development. Our curriculum is designed to offer a wide variety of age-appropriate activities that foster intellectual, social, and emotional development.
Our teachers use creative art, movement, and music activities as well as science and math to utilize both group dynamics and independent thinking. Adaptations and reasonable accommodations are provided to meet individual children's needs.
Licensing Details
Tree House Academy of Tolland is a state licensed and insured child care facility operating under the standards of Connecticut state childcare licensing authorities.
Admission Policy

We are a childcare educational center serving infants and toddlers, along with preschool and school-age children. Professional development opportunities for staff are provided to enhance their capacity to meet the special needs of children, including children with disabilities.
Hours of Operation & Attendance Policies
Hours of Operation
Monday – Friday
7:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.
Reporting Absences
If your child will be absent, please notify the center directly by phone or Brightwheel message as early as possible so that we may staff the classrooms accordingly.
Late Pickup Fee Policy
Tree House Academy closes promptly at 6:00 PM. A late pickup fee of **$1 per minute** applies if your child remains in our care after 6:00 PM. Please note that calling the center to notify staff that you are running late does not exempt you from this late pickup fee.
Emergency Contact & Pickup Procedures
If a child has not been picked up within **five (5) minutes** of our closing time (by 6:05 PM), a staff person will attempt to call the child's parents/guardians at their work, home, and cell phone numbers.
If parents/guardians cannot be reached, the staff person will attempt to call the emergency and alternate contacts listed on the child's enrollment form.
Police Notification after 30 Minutes:
The police will be contacted after 1/2 hour (6:30 PM) if parents or alternate adults specified on the permission forms cannot be reached. At that time, the child may be released directly to the police.
Arrival, Drop-off & Pick-up Safety
Building Entry Security Code
Our building is secured with a keypad entry code for the safety of all children and staff. Upon enrollment, your family will be given the current entry code directly by our office. Please do not share this code with unauthorized individuals. Anyone picking up a child who does not typically do so must be listed on the enrollment forms and must show a valid photo ID to the staff at the door before the child is released.
Arrival and Sign-In Process
Tree House Academy opens at 7:00 AM. Enter the building through the main entrance. Staff will check your child in on the classroom sign-in sheet, and on Brightwheel, and assist him/her in the transition from home to school before class begins.
Parents must escort children:
We ask that each child is escorted from the car to the classroom and from the classroom to the car by a parent or guardian. Many vehicles enter and leave the parking lot during transition times; we want to ensure the safety of every child.
Handwashing Protocol
To maintain a clean and healthy environment, **both child and adult are required to wash their hands** upon entering the classroom in the morning.
Adjustment & Morning Transitions
Each child requires a different amount of time to adjust to a new routine and environment. When a child is having difficulty adjusting in the morning, **it is often best to say good-bye quickly without returning**.
Our teaching staff will immediately reassure and comfort your child during this transition. Over time, your child will become comfortable and confident with the daily routine.
Outdoor Pick-up Rules
If your child's class is outside during pick-up time, you must enter the building through the main entrance, walk through the building, and exit out the back door to pick up your child.
Playground Gates:
Children will not be released to families through the playground gates under any circumstances. All sign-out and release processes must go through the building flow.
